Battle Los Angeles (2011)

Battle Los Angeles (2011) BRRip Dual Audio

Rating: 5.8/10
Genre: Action | Sci-Fi
Director: Jonathan Liebesman
Stars: Aaron Eckhart, Ramon Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan
Release Date: 11 March 2011
DESCRIPTION :  A Marine platoon fights to prevent the city of Los Angeles from being overtaken by a race of highly advanced alien invaders in this epic sci-fi action thriller from director Jonathan Liebesman (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) and producer Neal H. Moritz (I Am LegendFast & Furious). After decades of speculation about life on other planets, the people of Earth discover that extraterrestrials really do exist when destruction rains down from the stars on cities all across the globe. When the alien warships descend upon Los Angeles, however, the ferocious invaders discover that humankind won’t go down without a fight as a gruff Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his fearless troop of jarheads point their weapons skyward and make one last stand for the entire human race.
Review :
So front-loaded with clichés that it initially feels as if it might buckle under the weight of its own derivativeness, Battle: Los Angeles eventually finds its footing during an explosive bridge battle around the midway mark, and subsequently muscles through with the efficiency of a battle-hardened Marine.
After decades of speculation about life on other planets, the people of Earth discover that they are not alone in the universe when destruction rains down from the stars on 12 major cities all across the globe. Our new overlords have arrived, and they won’t rest until the entire human race has been exterminated. When the alien warships begin laying waste to Los Angeles, however, the ferocious invaders discover that humankind won’t go down without a fight as gruff Marine Staff Sergeant Nantz (Aaron Eckhart) and his fearless troop of jarheads vow to hold their ground and make one last stand for humanity. But how do you defeat an enemy when you don’t have the first clue about their biology, or their technology? As the countdown to a massive bombing campaign along the Santa Monica shoreline begins, Nantz and his battalion race to rescue a group of citizens trapped in a nearby police station. Along the way, they’re joined by Tech Sergeant Elena Santos (Michelle Rodriguez) and a ragtag group of desperate soldiers. Upon reaching the station, the group succeeds in locating the survivors, who include devoted father Joe (Michael Peña) and his young son, Hector (Bryce Cass). Just as the desperate group is about to make their escape, however, they realize they are surrounded on all sides. Getting out won’t be easy, but to stay means certain death. Now, if they can just manage to make a clean getaway, they may still have a chance to take out the invader’s command control center, and unite with all of humankind to save the only home they’ve ever known.
It’s just another war for oil in Battle: Los Angeles, a film so chaotic and incoherent that it nearly self-destructs before miraculously gaining enough momentum halfway through to offer a bombastic take on humankind’s fight against a technologically advanced — yet not impervious — race of malevolent alien invaders. Presented in a handheld style that gives the impression of a wartime documentary, this unorthodox take on the traditional combat film feels as if screenwriter Christopher Bertolini simply dusted off an old script in which Nazis invaded a major American city and replaced Hitler‘s henchmen with bio-mechanical Martians. From the retiring, battle-scarred military veteran drawn reluctantly back into battle, to the virginal rookie, to the shell-shocked combat vet, to the brave grunt just fighting for citizenship, Bertolini‘s screenplay is so saturated in wartime stereotypes that it feels like it might just sink until characterization mercifully takes a back seat to action. Even then, it’s difficult to feel as if we’re actually witnessing anything new, though by that point the combination of rapid-fire editing and an over-emotive score at least succeeds in stimulating us enough to create the illusion of excitement. Later, when the purpose of the invasion is finally revealed in a throwaway line, it quickly becomes apparent how uninterested Bertolini is in flexing any creative muscle.
Likewise, the generic creature design feels just about as uninspired as the storytelling, though the special-effects team does manage the impressive feat of making the alien technology seem at once highly advanced and vulnerable to attack. Performances are standard-issue grunt all around, with the exception of capable lead Eckhart, who provides the film’s only discernible human emotion with a pair of heartfelt speeches that could have had genuine impact if only the earnest dialogue didn’t waft with banality. Those speeches, combined with all of the other combat movie clichés found in Battle: Los Angeles, reveal the film to be little more than a traditional war film disguised as an alien invasion flick, tailor-made for a generation of kids raised on first-person shooters and jitter-inducing energy drinks.

Wrath Of The Titans (2012)

Wrath Of The Titans (2012) BRRip Dual Audio

Wrath Of The Titans (2012)

Ratings: 5.2/10
Director: Andrew Stanton
Release Date: 30 March 2012
Genre: Action | Adventure | Fantasy
Stars: Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Rosamund Pike
DESCRIPTION :The epic battle between the Titans and the gods continues in this sequel set ten years after the events inClash of the Titans, as Perseus (Sam Worthington) descends into the underworld on a mission to rescue Zeus from the clutches of Hades (Ralph Fiennes), Ares (Edgar Ramirez), and Kronos. In the wake of his decisive victory against the Kraken, Perseus has retreated to a remote fishing village to raise his young son, Helius. Meanwhile, humanity has lost faith in the gods. As a result, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon find their power beginning to slip, a development that could spell disaster for all of humankind should their imprisoned father, Kronos, manage to break free from his underworld prison in Tartarus. When Perseus learns that Zeus’ son Ares has teamed with Hades and Kronos to capture Zeus, steal his power, and create hell on Earth, the time comes to take action. Now, with Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and Hephaestus (Bill Nighy) by his side, brave Perseus will venture deep into the underworld on a mission to defeat the Titans, deliver Zeus from evil, and prevent the powers of darkness from consuming all of humanity.
Review :
You just can’t keep a good god down, and two years after Clash of the Titans made “Release the Kraken!” an unlikely catchphrase (at least for a few months), Perseus and his extended family are once again causing a commotion in the inevitable sequel, Wrath of the Titans. While the first film had to live up to the expectations of fanboys who had fond memories of the 1981 original (particularly the stop-motion special-effects work of the legendary Ray Harryhausen), Wrath of the Titans is clearly meant to hold up the standards of Louis Leterrier‘s noisy remake, and unfortunately it doesn’t quite make the cut. It’s hard to imagine a film with as much going on as this one being dull, but somehow director Jonathan Liebesman has managed that dubious feat, reducing characters that have captivated the world for centuries to cardboard cutouts, all playing second fiddle to enough CGI to overload every computer in Southern California.
Ten years after demigod Perseus (Sam Worthington) brought down the Kraken and saved humanity, belief in the ancient gods has waned among the people, and without a steady stream of prayer, those gods are losing their power. Perseus isn’t much worried about this, as he’s embraced his human side and makes his living as a humble fisherman while raising his son Helius (John Bell). But Perseus is visited by his father Zeus (Liam Neeson), who warns him that as his power fades from a scarcity of prayer, his brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes), who rules the underworld, is taking advantage of the situation by entering into an alliance with Perseus’ vain and ill-tempered brother Ares (Edgar Ramirez). Zeus is then kidnapped by Hades and Ares, and with the great god weak and in bondage, Hades is urged by Ares to bring his wrath upon the world. Perseus reluctantly takes up the fight against the forces of the underworld, joined by the goddess Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), the scruffy demigod Agenor (Toby Kebbell), and Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), who once made the weapons of the gods and knows a tricky path for outsiders to make their way into the underworld.
Wrath of the Titans only lasts 99 minutes (which includes a lengthy end-credit crawl that cites literally hundreds of special-effects technicians), but it feels considerably longer. Director Jonathan Liebesman(whose credits include The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, which is about as ill-begotten as sequels get) packs the film with action and narrative leaps and turns, but so much of it happens without any reasonable context that it just seems like a random parade of images, tossed at the camera in less-than-stellar 3D and with the usual shaky-cam visuals making it hard to tell who is doing what. When you spend millions of dollars designing a huge, multiheaded CGI monster, it would make sense to set down the camera just long enough so that we can get a decent look at the thing, but this is not a lessonLiebesman has learned. Wrath of the Titans is also filled with trite dialogue (peppered with modern-day slang) and shoddy character development, and the latter presents a challenge the cast, for the most part, is unable to overcome. Neeson and Fiennes manage to hold on to their dignity as the aging gods, andNighy is enjoyable in his brief turn as Hephaestus, but Worthington is more of a prop than an actor here, wooden even as he struggles to convincingly depict his love for this son. And as Agenor, Kebbellcomes off as a cut-rate Russell Brand, uncomfortably calling attention to himself at every turn. (It’s worth noting that Alexa Davalos opted not to return as Andromeda for this sequel to Clash of the Titans, and given how little Pike gets to do with the character here, it’s not surprising.) If Clash of the Titanswas an enjoyable if empty-headed special-effects thrill ride, Wrath of the Titans manages to cover the same territory but without a sense of fun or adventure, and for all the monsters, mayhem, and lost worlds on display, there’s no sense of wonder or any reason to care about humanity’s possible destruction. In the end, it’s hard to feel much enthusiasm for a movie that doesn’t see anything funny about the notion of presenting a Cyclops in 3D.

Kung Fu Dunk (2008)
 Ratings: 4.8/10
Genre(s): Comedy | Sport
Directed by: Yen-Ping Chu
Star Cast: Jay Chou, Eric Tsang, Gang Wang
Released On: 7 February 2008
DESCRIPTION :  Traditional basketball and the practice of kung fu intersect with startling and surprisingly humorous results in Chu Yin Ping’s martial arts comedy Kung Fu Dunk. Jay Chou stars as Shi-Jie, a child bereft by his parents as an infant but ceremoniously adopted by the master of the local kung fu school. Unsurprisingly, growing up in this environment, Shi-Jie trains aggressively in kung fu and develops an intuitive ability to predict his opponents’ moves before they occur – an ability that translates effortlessly to skills on the basketball court. In time the youth catches the eye of Chen-Li, a businessman who sees Shi-Jie’s potential for monetary exploitation and convinces him to play basketball for a nearby college. Chen-Li buries his real motives beneath his phony expressed desire to help the young man regain contact with his family, and unfortunately, Shi-Jie fails to see through it. He’s far more fixated on achieving team stardom for personal reasons that involve wooing the sister of team captain Ting-Wei. Meanwhile, the entire team must face the prospect of squaring off against a rival team so vicious and brutal that their on-court tactics have caused them to be banned in the United States.

Director: Francis Lawrence
Release Date: 14 December 2007
Stars: Will Smith, Alice Braga, Charlie Tahan
DESCRIPTION : Adapted from acclaimed author Richard Matheson‘s influential novelette of the same name,Constantine director Francis Lawrence‘s I Am Legend follows the last man on Earth as he struggles to survive while fending off the infected survivors of a devastating vampiric plague. A brilliant scientist who raced to discover a cure for the man-made virus as humanity came crumbling down all around him, Robert Neville (Will Smith) was inexplicably immune to the highly contagious superbug. Now the entire population of New York City — and perhaps the world — has been transformed into carnivorous bloodsuckers that fear the light and live solely to spread their contagion to any remaining living creature that crosses their path. It’s been three years since civilization came to an end, and the loneliness has taken a devastating toll on Neville. By day he scours the city for food and supplies while sending out desperate radio messages in hopes that someone might respond, and by night he attempts to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus by experimenting with his own blood. But time is running out for Neville as the legions of infected watch his every move from the safety of the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. They, too, long to learn the secret that lurks in Neville’s blood, though they will have to take caution while attempting to procure it because Neville will sooner die attempting to slay every last one of them than willingly giving up a single drop. Previously adapted for the screen in the 1964 Vincent Price frightener The Last Man on Earth and the 1971 Charlton Heston action film The Omega ManMatheson‘s novelette also served as the inspiration for George A. Snitch (2013)

Snitch (2013) BRRip 420p 300MB Dual Audio ESubs

Snitch (2013)
Rating: 6.7/10
Director: Ric Roman Waugh
Release Date: 22 February 2013
Genre: Action | Drama | Thriller
Stars: Dwayne Johnson, Susan Sarandon, Jon Bernthal
DESCRIPTION : A desperate father infiltrates a powerful drug cartel in order to save his son from a 10-year prison sentence in this crime drama based on actual events. Arrested on charges of drug distribution after he’s caught with a package of Ecstasy, 18-year-old Jason Collins (Rafi Gavron) faces a mandatory ten-year sentence in a federal prison. But Jason’s father John (Dwayne Johnson) knows that his son is no drug dealer, and vows to do whatever it takes to win back his freedom. When Jason refuses an offer to reduce his sentence by setting someone up to take a big fall, John pleads with U.S. Attorney Joanne Keeghan (Susan Sarandon) to let him go undercover, and gather enough evidence to convict the real power players. With the help of ex-con-turned-family man Daniel (Jon Bernthal), John is hot on the trail of Malik (Michael Kenneth Williams), a vicious drug dealer and the leader of a notorious street gang. Meanwhile, in his efforts to free his son, John may have inadvertently put Daniel’sfamily in jeopardy. Later, when the growing trail of clues leads John to ruthless cartel leader Juan Carlos “El Topo” Pintera (Benjamin Bratt), the loyal father vows not to let his fate be dictated by the ambitious powers that be on either side of the law. Barry Pepper also stars.
Review :
If the trailers for Snitch could be trusted, we’re to gather that Dwayne Johnson single-handedly takes on one of Mexico’s most powerful drug cartels in a desperate bid to get his son out of prison. It’s the perfect setup for a typical action film in which gun clips somehow hold infinite ammo and bad guys are dispatched by the dozen as our bloodied, battered hero steadily works his way through the ranks until barely surviving the final showdown (see: Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s The Last Stand). Even a casual glance at director Ric Roman Waugh‘s extensive credits as a stuntman (he’s worked for such greats asTony ScottJohn McTiernanJames Cameron, and Steven Spielberg, to name a few) may only serve to hasten our dismissal of Snitch as another by-the-numbers popcorn flick for overgrown adolescents.
What neither of these observations do, in any way, is prepare you for the blindsiding to come.
A desperate father infiltrates a powerful drug cartel in order to save his son from a prison sentence in this crime drama based on actual events. Arrested on charges of drug distribution after he’s caught with a package of Ecstasy, 18-year-old Jason Collins (Rafi Gavron) faces a mandatory ten-year sentence in a federal prison. But Jason’s father John (Johnson) knows that his son is no drug dealer, and vows to do whatever it takes to win back his freedom. When Jason refuses an offer to reduce his sentence by setting someone else up to take a big fall, John pleads with U.S. Attorney Joanne Keeghan (Susan Sarandon) to let him go undercover and gather enough evidence to convict the real power players. With the help of ex-con-turned-family man Daniel (Jon Bernthal), John is hot on the trailof Malik (Michael Kenneth Williams), a vicious drug dealer and the leader of a notorious street gang. Call it a bait and switch or just good-old-fashioned incompetent advertising, but precious few who head out to the multiplex to see Snitch are likely to have any indication of what’s in store for them when the lights go down. While those expecting a nonstop shoot-‘em-up are bound to walk away disappointed, others who can recognize the film for what it truly is — a thinly veiled condemnation of the failed War on Drugs — might see this competent crime drama as a breath of fresh air. Together withRevolutionary Road scribe Justin Haythe, director/co-screenwriter Waugh paints a troubling portrait of failed government policies and the devastating collateral damage that occurs when opportunistic politicians cling to them as a means of advancing their careers. Although subtlety is hardly the point here (as evidenced primarily in Sarandon‘s shark-smile performance), Haythe and Waugh do manage to raise some thought-provoking questions about the system’s flaws as John and Daniel weigh the consequences of their actions. All the while, the dynamic between the two men holds us captivated not only because both are fathers determined to do right by their sons, but also due to the former’s naiveté regarding the world that the latter is waging a losing battle to escape.
Given the intimate scale that Snitch operates on, the movie may seem insignificant when compared to the brand of sprawling crime dramas in which the fate of a major city, or even an entire country, hinges on the outcome of some dangerous investigation involving all manner of covert government organizations. Step back and consider how many families have been — and are still being — torn apart by antiquated policies that have been proven time and again to have a detrimental effect on society, however, and the true scope of the tragedy becomes almost too overwhelming to bear. Kudos to Haytheand Waugh for not only breaking the mold, but actually delivering a film of true substance about a topic that affects countless more than just the convicted. It may not mean much in terms of action, but whatSnitch lacks in explosions, it more than makes up for by delivering a message that needs to be heard.
